Homeopathy lessons!

I will tell you my thoughts…well, is it not just medicine, it is a whole perspective about life…it is a wholistic approach to body health, which does not allow you to deal with separate symptoms, but forces  you to see yourself as a whole, and treat your body with respect from top to bottom and the other way around…

You may gain a little weight, if you are a coffee lover like myself and try to find the taste in different things…it is almost like quitting smoking…but then again, it might not be forever (at least i am hoping to be able to enjoy coffee again – even if it is for a while!). The point is that it makes you feel better, and this positive attitude might help you fight more effectively the diseases which come along…

It is only 3 weeks i am on therapy with homeopathic medicine, and i feel better, not 100% cured from my igmoritis and right arm aches, but better altogether…

I will post my impressions after a few months – to have a comparative ground for discussion…good so far…suggest it with ‘closed eyes’, but it has to come from inside – you have to be determined inside to try something different than classic medicine….for me, so far, it has been a very good psycho-therapeutic travel to the soul of my existence, an opportunity to get more in touch with my inner being – a philosophical journey, and a chance to ’smell the roses’ more often since my olfactory system is also altogether better/more open after many months of being blocked and this has boosted my morale as well.

Thank you doctor,

Xenia

[Mini Panetelas]
Excellent taste for a coffee or light drink companion, a little austere and bitter in first puffs, but overall sweet and gentle with the tongue and nose, will not let you down unless you leave it down for longer than a whole minute on your ashtray. Leaves you expecting more due to its demi-tasse size but with an aftertaste which does not permit immediate repetition. Perfect to accompany espresso, or campari due to their bitter origins…can even be smoked by itself because of its wholesome existence. Enjoy without forgetting that with small size, as in literature where big writers were recognized and awarded for their small stories, comes the wonder, the surprise, and the prize.Rating: 5 of 5 Stars! Audio books – a new experience

Categories: Daily thoughts

I happened to read about them, discuss them in brief with colleagues at work, or browse a few titles through ‘amazon’.

The actual experience is unique…you insert the CD in your car audio, you start off the engine, fasten your seat belt, open the window to let some fresh air inside and start “travelling”…you may even have your coffee in a thermos if your office or your morning client are far from home…

The luxury of having the author narrate his/her writings, especially if he or she has a nice, smooth voice, is incomparable…you hear the author re-living what he/she has written, and speaking out what he/she thinks while you drive – a usually dead moment in your life in which you cannot usually read something while waiting for the red light to become green – and you therefore travel at 2 dimensions…the actual and the imaginary. You simply hear the masterpiece, and if you happen to be a visual type, you just keep a paper edition close to bed to re-capture later within the day some ingenius quotations and take a closer look to what you heard earlier in your car.

Another advantage of the audio book is that its price is almost half from buying the paper edition…and of course it is environment friendly since it promotes a paperless education and entertainment…do you want more before actually attacking the advanced bookstores of Athens to find and buy an audio? As far as I know, in Greece we have classic literature, modern literature and foreign language learning in audio book form so far.

I am now ‘hearing’ a book from a Greek writer, Petros Tatsopoulos – H kalosyni twn ksenwn which is autobiographical and is about his adoption, and how he discovered and deals with it up until today…truly authentic and interesting in many respects. What i like most about this audio is that the author is being very self-sarcastic and at the same time appears amazed about what has happened in his life like an external observer of someone else’s life who empathizes with the little boy but mostly with the grown man seeking for answers in his parents’ and foster parents’ behaviour and decisions.

on attribution…

Attribution theory has long been my favorite area of research and scientific thought. Basically this theory talks about essential assumptions we make to understand and interpret the world around us, and even more specifically how we explain other people’s behaviours, and the outcomes of our actions with causal terms (internal attribution: causality is assigned to an internal factor – something we did ourselves, we feel responsible for what happened, either good or bad, and therefore we can control it, and/or change it, and external attribution: causality is assigned to external factors, we do not feel responsible for these factors which are out of our control and therefore we do not feel we can change them).

What is amazing with us humans is that we believe we can explain everything, and we usually tend to attribute our own success to internal/controllable factors, and our own failure to external/uncontrollable factors, whereas with other people we usually do the opposite (attribute their success to external factors and their failure to internal factors).

The Attribution theory has many applications, for instance in psychology, criminal law, HRM appraisals, education, marketing communication and many others. Main thinkers behind this theory are Fritz Heider (The Psychology of Interpersonal Relations) and Harold Kelley (Attribution Theory & Research).

Business and pleasure

Lets talk about work issues and things that help us relax.

Human capital is the most important asset of an organisation. Things go well when you have an idea – a product, people to believe in it, and people to sell it….These people you have to manage well to keep them intrigued and constantly interested – which is a difficult task considering human nature…Things dont go well when you have good people but you cannot manage them, hear them out, understand them, fulfil their needs, support them and believe in them. And then what?Companies end up asking for ‘corporate therapy’ – consulting and training sessions to evaluate their situation and find remedies…but even when they do find remedies, some companies put them in a drawer and forget about them…never act on them…Solution: be positive, be open, communicate and engage to keep your people happy and working for your company…for more, see future postings.

Cigars and wine are two of the finest pleasures of civilized people. Cigar smoking is a rather lonely ’sport’, since most people dont like or cannot stand the smell of a cigar in a room. Wine drinking is a very social/friendly ’sport’, and depending on specific tastes, you can make wonderful and simple dinner gatherings with friends and enjoy  yourselves till early morning hours!
